Daily Weather Breakdown

Day 1: Clear Skies

Expect bright sunshine and gentle coastal breezes. Temperatures will be 55°F (13°C) in the morning and 68°F (20°C) by afternoon. Conditions may be suitable for a morning walk or shorebird viewing.

Day 2: Partly Cloudy

Morning clouds may give way to sunshine. Mild wind can provide comfortable conditions for photography or a walk along the beach.

Day 3: Foggy Morning, Sunny Afternoon

Coastal fog is common early and may clear by midday. Visibility and temperatures can change quickly, so carry an extra layer and remain aware of current conditions.

Day 4: Light Showers

Scattered showers may occur. Bring a waterproof jacket if you plan to explore nearby trails. Temperatures range from 54°F (12°C) to 66°F (19°C).

Day 5: Windy

Stronger coastal winds may make exposed areas uncomfortable and can affect beach safety. From March 1 through September 30, kite flying and kiteboarding are prohibited on and off Limantour Beach west of the eastern access trail, which is the trail leading from the smaller paved parking lot. Use only areas where the activity is permitted, follow posted signs and check current National Park Service closures before bringing kite equipment.

Day 6: Sunny

Clearer conditions may be suitable for picnics, wildlife viewing or a walk along the permitted section of the beach. Wind and fog may still develop later in the day.

Day 7: Mild & Pleasant

Moderate temperatures and a gentle breeze may provide comfortable conditions for walking and wildlife observation. Continue to follow posted beach and wildlife-protection notices.

  • Check tide information before walking near tidal areas.
  • Dress in layers for changing fog, wind and temperatures.
  • Bring sunscreen, a hat and drinking water, including on cloudy days.
  • Keep a safe distance from harbor seals, shorebirds and other wildlife.
  • Kite restriction: From March 1 through September 30, kite flying and kiteboarding are prohibited west of Limantour Beach’s eastern access trail. Other temporary closures may also be posted.
  • Check current National Park Service closures and all signs at the beach before starting an activity.
