Limantour Beach is a quiet coastal area in Marin County, California, within Point Reyes National Seashore. Take U.S. Highway 101 north across the Golden Gate Bridge. Use the Sir Francis Drake Boulevard exit toward San Anselmo and continue west through Fairfax and Samuel P. Taylor State Park. At Olema, turn right onto Highway 1, then left onto Bear Valley Road. Continue toward the Bear Valley Visitor Center area and follow Limantour Road west to the beach parking lots.
From Point Reyes Station:
Travel south on Highway 1 toward Olema, turn right onto Bear Valley Road, and continue toward the Bear Valley Visitor Center. Turn onto Limantour Road and follow it for approximately 12 km (7.5 miles) to the main Limantour Beach parking lot. The drive from Bear Valley normally takes about 20 minutes.
Public Transportation:
There is no regular direct public transportation to Limantour Beach. West Marin Stagecoach service can reach Point Reyes Station, Inverness, and the Bear Valley Visitor Center area, but Point Reyes National Seashore does not operate public transportation from those stops to Limantour Beach.
Reaching Point Reyes Station or Bear Valley does not mean that transportation to the beach is available. The final section of the trip requires a private vehicle, taxi, bicycle, or transportation arranged in advance. The former Limantour Beach Shuttle is no longer available.
